I saw a hat with your logo on it. Where can I get one?
Hats are generally reserved for clients, but if you ask nicely, I'll set you up.
What is your rate for the day?
It depends on what equipment you require for your particular shoot, how long your shoot is, and whether you need studio time. Contact me for a precise estimate.
Why are location recordists so expensive?
They aren't. We provide a service that is indispensable for your production. DIY audio recording has its limitations, and you will notice a big improvement by hiring a professional with high quality equipment. Don't saddle your camera operator with the responsibility of capturing sound and picture at the same time.
Ask an experienced producer and they will tell you that good sound is often more important than good images.
If you're really on a budget, call me anyway and I can help you get a better sound on your own.

I got a really awesome hand-held recorder for sound recording. Will that work for me?
Yes, that could totally work for you. But if you need to hide 4 microphones, your actors start yelling, your batteries keep dying, and it gets too windy, you're gonna wish you called a sound recordist.
Can I rent some equipment from you and save some money?
Yes, I can rent you some great equipment and teach you how to use it too. But if I'm not coming with you on location I can't guarantee best results.
Can you remove all the noise from my recordings?
As a great man once said, "it depends." I have some great tools for noise reduction, but not all recordings can be made perfect in post production. Email me a sample of your recording and I can give you an estimate and a sample of your cleaned up audio.
Do you have a studio? Can I rent it?
Yes, I have a sound studio at my disposal for [almost] all of your post-sound needs. It doesn't have plumbing, though.
I love your name and your logo. Where did those come from?
The name came out of thin air, but my home and studio are very close to Bloor Street. It seemed so obvious. And the dot-com was available. The logo was designed by Aron Harris.
What happens if one of my actors breaks or loses your equipment?
S**t happens. Unfortunately your production is on the hook for the repairs. But don't worry, it will cost you much more if you break the camera.
I'd like to hire you. What information do you need from me now?
Great question. I've written an article about it. If you're going to send me audio for post production, here is a pdf document about deliverables I'll need.
